A REVITALISED spring garden has been officially opened at a borough school.

A REVITALISED spring garden has been officially opened at a borough school.

MP Alan Campbell was on hand to declare the new facility at Spring Gardens Primary School in North Shields open.

He was joined by pupils from each year group who had planted their own sunflower to mark the start of spring.

The event included a performance by the school's samba band, and an Easter egg competition judged by Mr Campbell.

Also in attendance were staff, pupils, and other invited guests, including representatives from Accenture, Esh Group, Morrisons and The Calvert Trust, who have all supported the creation of the garden.

Headteacher Stephen Baines said: "Our pupils are all very excited about their new garden, especially planting their sunflowers and watching them grow.

"Alan Campbell has shown great interest in the progression of the work on this lovely garden so we are delighted that he was able to perform its official opening ceremony.
